A Guide for Healthcare Providers

Every New Hampshire healthcare provider has an opportunity to engage and support people who inject drugs.  People who inject drugs are interested and capable of making changes to improve their health and safety. “Have the Conversation: Caring for People Who Inject Drugs” was developed to support practitioners who want to engage clients ‘where they are at’ and collaborate on meaningful goal setting to improve health. Conversations about safer supplies, safer use, safer disposal, and preventative care recommendations are opportunities to reduce risk for overdose, infection, and establish a supportive relationship.

This is a publication endorsed by the New Hampshire Governor’s Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention, Treatment and Recovery and its Healthcare Task Force. Reproduce and share freely.
